Felix en Maurice tonen 15 januari 2012 weer een ongekend cinematografisch hoogstandje dat in twee dagen tot stand is gekomen.

De locatie van de shoot staat vast: de oude mijnfabriek Beringen in het Belgische Wallonië.

De première is op zondag 15 januari 2012 om 22:00u op de Jupiterstraat 15 in Utrecht. Iedereen is van harte welkom.

The Age of Man, or the Anthropocene. As cultural philosopher Peter Sloterdijk wrote in his book “You have to change your life“, we are living in an age where mankind itself now is a factor of change in the Terrestrial Ecosystem Model. Peter wrote that this is the age where the human mindset for the first time is thinking globally, and is realising more and more that his actions have a global impact on many factors. These factors are part of complex intertwined global systems. These sysems can be Economic of nature, where the complex interconnection became very clear during the financial crisis, and also Ecologically of nature, where the climate crisis did it part. As written also in the Economist of May 26th 2011. “Humans have changed the way the world works. Now they have to change the way they think about it, too”. Nowadays mankind IS a significant factor in the earth-system, he can no longer stand back and ignore the fact that he should take control of the wheel. For its own survival mankind should organise itself, have a long term vision and as one organism steer the earth system in the right direction. The vision is Resilience, not sustainability. Sustainability is grasping for maintaining the status quo, Resilience is about making flexible so it can withstand dramatic change. Like the buildings build in Japan, their foundation is made flexible, so the building can withstand and absorb earth quake shocks.

The climate top in Copenhagen 2009 showed that mankin is not ready to make the offerings to create a resilient vision. When it fails to cooperate and still hold on to its current model of Ultra Consumerism, mankind will face a grim future. The documentary called “The Age of Stupid” tell us how the world looks like in 2100 if we don’t have a globally organised mandated vision. The documentary also tells us where it went wrong.

The title of the book from Peter Sloterdijk is well apt: “You must change your life”. This means: completely as we know it, in order to prevent the earth system to collapse to a point of no return. the current models will not be fit for a planet that holds billions of people striving for the Western way of life.

At the TED conference Johan Rockström explains that the earth system has nine buffer area’s, that can take hits from ecological disaster after disaster. When that buffer is depleted, the logic of the system changes drastically, and may drive in the opposite direction. When the logic changes, it is harder to predict who the earth system will react.

The sources of energy are getting depleted in 100 years time since the start of the industrial revolution, where mankind sets aside God, and became God himself. Now mankind can create its own future, yet it has to learn how to control and steer it in the right direction.
The challenge for mankind is to generate a different global mindset, and have faith the vision will be merciful for its future. A new world religion should be born, with its own rituals and priests, where millions of minds are mentally supporting the new world vision. Perhaps that is how to get the different global mindset. The mindful actions are the rituals, and the scientists are the preaching priests.

So what to do now? Well, there is hope according to Prof. Louise Vet there is hope. She learns us to “Think global, act local“. In her presentation at the TEDx conferentie in Amsterdam, she teaches us that this mantra is the only solution to be flexible for future set-backs.

“Think global, act local”. In other words be resilient in creativity. The artists of today have this creative mindset we can set to work in the anthropocene for other things then making paintings and sculptures. In the Netherlands the government stopped subsidising the Art sector in 2011. These people are the new poor, or the new hope. They will become the new hope, only if world governments are starting realising that; to live in the Anthropocene means to start taking control over the drivers wheel. The creative of minds know how to be resilient. They are masters in wielding the steer, so let them act and play their role on a local level within society.

Personal note: My challenge would be to enact this mantra “think global, act local” much as possible. And furthermore help others to enact this mantra as well. Currently I don’t know where to start. I can think about local farming, but that means I need to have knowledge and the time to do it. Buying the right things. Eating local food, food that comes with the season. Investing in local energy stations (solar, wind). There is this small book called “practical idealism” that would be nice to read.

From 2007 until 2009 I was running a very successful film making platform with a friend, Leendert Oostlander (see the picture below in the video stream), in Utrecht. This platform was to offer Film makers a stage where they could make short films and show it to interested visitors in a real cinema. After 2009 we realised we couldn’t manage this with continuing our day job. It was either this or nothing.

So we decided to hand the platform over to the community that increasingly grew. They continued in Eendags_, a platform not exclusively for film makers. So the management over the Eendagsfilm.com website came to a halt.

We had a lot of fun, had good times, but it all remains to the past now. We can now look back with good memories of the time we crafted a lot of creative short films, and gave people inspiration and the possibilities to do also.

It was called Eendagsfilm, with the logo of a One-Day Fly, to represent the starting seed and the final result of the labor of one-day film making. The film teams got a common theme in the morning, and came back in the evening with completely different interpretations. Eendagsfilm was exciting, an most of al fun! I enjoyed it.

Today I decided to close down it’s website, eendagsfilm.com, by the 1th of August 2011. In Memorial I have saved the video’s. You can watch them in the video stream above, als long as blip.tv is still offering the service. The video’s can be watched on the internet, and on digital tv channels all over the world, if I take the effort to convert to MP4. The clip below shows the first Opening of Eendagsfilm, where Leendert Oostlander is presenting the start of where it all began on November 16th 2007.

Actually, it began on July 20th in 2007, where Leendert and I came with the concept and made our first short film (see the video section) in just one day. The audience was enthusiastic. They reminded us they liked the concept and would like to join and create short films in one day as well. So we stared looking for the right location to offer our friends a cinematic experience.

Some people might get the feeling that they can read the mind of another person in occasions like in an intense conversation two people have. Most of the time they just ignore this observation because in western tradition it is not an accepted as a valid sensory experience.

In the field of parapsychology studies are made that prove the “mind reader” effect over and over again in the disputed Ganzfeld (whole field, German) experiments. These are statistical evidence based experiments where a sensory blocked person in a cabin is asked to see the pictures another person in the same room is looking at. These experiments are disputed because of the unclear data aggregation and the methodological errors.  Just as in medicine the proof exists that the drug Paracetamol reduces headache and blood pressure because of statistical evidence. Both studies describe the phenomenon by measuring the input and output and work with control mechanisms to rule out unwanted effects. However showing statistical evidence does not mean that we understand how it might work.

In the field of quantum physics there is a theory called the “Zero Point Field Theory” or “Vacuum state” that might explain the “mind reader” effect. However this theory has almost increased to religious proportions in the area of pseudo-science. Very creative people who relate more value to this theory than its original intent. Sadly I soon appear to become one of those

According to the article “The amazing promises of the Zero Point Field” by Tijn Touber in the Ode Magazine issue of November 2003, information about occurrences is available in the Zero Point Field despite of time and space. Proof for this phenomenon has been proved by Physicist Hall Puthoff of Stanford University in  336 comparable experiments. I haven’t researched the success rate of these experiments, or whether these experiments have been validated by peers, but I trust that there is a valid significant effect.

Theory

In this section I will describe the Vacuum state, quantum teleportation, and quantum effects in the brain influencing brain activity.

Describing the characteristics of the Vacuum state. The vacuum state in quantum physics is not a physical vacuum. It is a vacuum of time and space where particles are constantly popping in and out of existence resulting in a nothingness, as if nothing has ever occurred. Evidence for this field is the back-ground gamma radiation all around us. This low level gamma-ray radiation occurs when a positive and negative particle pop into existence, but failing to dissolve to each other  completely leaving behind energy in the form of gamma radiation.

A second phenomenon in the quantum field is called quantum teleportation. It transfers quantum information, a qubit, from one quantum system to another.

A third phenomenon in the neuroscience, and a key to quantum computing, is that quantum effects occur when the brain fires millions of electrical pulses through neurones, influencing memories, thoughts and other brain functionalities. Conclusion

Mixing the three phenomena together might fit a sound description for explaining the “mind reading” effect.

a. a field or vacuum state that holds and transfers quantum information

b. quantum information can be teleported/duplicated from one quantum system to another through that vacuum state at the same time.

c. quantum effects have influence on brain/mind functions.

It might be so that the brain B is able to emit or broadcast quantum information to a receptor brain R. The brain R might be very receptical to quantum information in the Zero Point Field that costs less energy to change its state.

Discussion

Malcom Gladwell argues in his book “Blink” that people can make decisions in a blink of an eye, if they are receptive for cues they get from sensory information, and have a lot of experience in a certain field of expertise. The brain is trained to recognise the patterns it has learned from years of training. Such as an art expert can see in a blink of an eye whether a piece of art is original or a fraud. This might conclude that mind reading in a conversation one has, is that two people might know the context and the progress of a conversation so well they almost could fill in each other’s sentences, just because humans by nature are experts in having a conversation especially in subjects they love to talk about.

Future work

The question remains; how creates the broadcasting brain a quantum tunnel for transferring quantum information to influence the thoughts of another receptor brain? Why just that particular receptor brain, and not others? Are the other brains blocking the noize of all the quantum information that occurs in the vacuum state, just like people can hear another person speak in a noisy room?

A non related question goes further: If the quantum information in the zero point field is not related tot space and time, can we train our brains to look into the past, future and other galaxies? Ok here is the thing. I read the briefing acticle “The electrification of motorisation” (with subtitle: “The electric-fuel-trade acid test”) in The Economist of September 5th-11th 2009, on page 73. I was excited and thrilled to read this article in the hope they could provide me with new information about this subject. Since it is The Economist wiriting, it is ofcourse about the Joule per dollar one can get out of a gas or electrical battery. The thesis continues about the bateries, new developments make Li-ion bateries faster to charge, nanotubes to give the electrones a smooth ride. etc. Then they talk about the infrastructure to recharge and to increase the range of your car. There are mentioned two possibilities: 1. charging station at fuel stations, charging a highspeed (and very expensive) battery for 80% in 30 minutes. 2. swapping stations that replace the depleted battery with a new one (see also the TED talk of Shai Agassi) .

However there is a  third possibility. I have not calculated the physics behind it, but is just starts with an idea. That idea  is a very well known natural phenomena and is called induction. I tried in my young days to get a lightbulb light-up by having an electrical coil placed at the wheelfork of my bike and placing magnets on each spoke in reversing order of the north and south pole. Turning the wheel made the bulb light-up.

To drive a car in long distances one can put magnets in the road. Reversing the order of the north and south pole, and put along eachother in a high denstity. Driving over them with a car with a electrical coils beneath, recharges as it goes. It is like having a fuel hose connected to your car. The recharging problem is over. And is even beter then traditional cars, because you can do this with electricity!

Why do we still keep thinking in old paradigms? The solution is very simple, and the solution is real! One can watch the TED talk about Wireless Electricity from Eric Giler.

To power such an in frastructure one can use Solar panels along side the highway that can serve as a sound wall and charging the electrical coils that are placed in the road. See the simple doodle that explains this below.

I am very interested in electric cars, the Tesla roadster is a very nice specimen, but very expensive. It is expencive because of the high powered batteries.  These bateries are placed all over in the car, so the solution of swapping batteries from Shai Agassi is not going to work in this case because one has to fit the car design to sertain functional criteria.

The technologies are all there to make this work. Tell me what you think when you watch these video clips in a row.

People are working on solar panel paint. A test with solar panels along the side of the road shows that they get easilly stolen. So a solution might be to paint surfaces alonside the road infrastructure. The solar panel paint has a lower power conversion, but it can deliver power on cloudy days aswell, providing a sustainable/endurable source of energy.

Het Open Source model voor bedrijfsvoering

The authors Jaap Bloem and Menno van Doorn from the consultancy company Sogeti describe how to setup a Open Innovation business model based upon the Open Source Software model. It describes how one can use empowered employees with greater autonomy to create innovitive products or services and create greater trust due to the transparancy. Open for Business is only in Dutch.
